The microphone and speaker components in a headset system degrade with use, exposure to kitchen grease and humidity, and the general abuse of a commercial operating environment. The speaker post at your order point has a sensitivity setting that determines how well it picks up a customer's voice and projects the crew member's response. That setting can drift over time due to weathering, physical impact, and component aging. A speaker post that is running with degraded sensitivity means customers have to speak louder to be heard and have to lean closer to the window to understand the response. The transaction feels harder than it should for both parties.

Battery life varies by manufacturer, usage pattern, and how batteries are charged and stored. Can headset audio quality be improved without replacing the whole system?
